  • 1) Obtain the right engine oil for the Volkswagen Up of your engine.
  • 2) Unlatch the bonnet and measure the oil level. Make a note of where the level is.
  • 3) Then carefully fill a little engine oil (approx. 100-150ml) into the Volkswagen Up oil nozzle.
  • 4) Be patient now for a short time before measuring the oil level again with the oil dipstick.
  • 5) Do not start the Volkswagen Up again until you have ensured that the oil level is at the normal level (indicated by the markings).

Volkswagen Up! Oil Change Interval

As standard for European models of the VW up!, the engine oil should be changed every 15,000 km or once a year. The PR number QI4 in the vehicle data carrier is what tells you this is the required interval. For some countries outside of Europe, Volkswagen specifies different oil change intervals because of the different driving conditions which can put more strain on the engine and cause it to wear out more quickly.

How Much Oil Does a Volkswagen Up! Need?

How much engine oil in the engine of your VW up! depends on the size and year of the engine. The 1.0 TSI with 66 kW and the 1.0 GTI with 85 kW each hold 4.0 litres of engine oil while the other three petrol engines (1.0 with 44 and 55 kW, 1.0 EcoFuel 50 kW) manage with just 3.4 litres.
