Everyone knows the Toyota Corolla. But did you also know how successful this vehicle actually is? The Toyota Corolla is considered the best-selling vehicle in the world. In addition to the popularity and the wealth of variants, this is mainly due to the long history that the Corolla already has under its belt.
So the Corolla has something up its sleeve for almost every requirement. A hatchback variant for singles, couples or small families looking for a practical all-rounder for town and country. A station wagon for everyone who needs a little more space for kith and kin. And finally a limousine for that extra touch of elegance and travel comfort.
The compact hatchback is the standard variant of the Toyota Corolla these days. As such, it is ideally suited as an all-rounder for intercity or city trips thanks to the well-balanced space and trunk conditions. As the compact segment already suggests, the compact dimensions of the Corolla make it easy to find suitable parking spaces.
Like most Toyota models, the Toyota Corolla is also available as a hybrid car . Toyota has two different engines on offer. With a choice of 122 or 184 hp, it is not only economical, but also fast. The hybrid engines of the Corolla are full hybrids or so-called self-charging hybrids, which charge themselves while driving with the help of brake energy recovery and cannot be charged from the outside by cable.
The engine oil in your Toyota Corolla plays a crucial role in its functioning. It lubricates various internal components, reducing friction and wear and tear, thus maintaining a smooth engine operation. Without oil, the engine would quickly become damaged and stop working.
Maintaining a routine of checking and changing the engine oil in your Toyota Corolla is imperative. Over time, small particles from engine combustion will collect in the oil, causing it to darken. If the accumulation of contaminants surpasses the oil's capacity, it can negatively impact the car's efficiency, performance, and even cause sludge and increased wear in the engine block.
When choosing engine oil for your Toyota Corolla, pay attention to its viscosity grade, which is labelled on the packaging, such as 0W-20, 5W-30, or 5W-40. The viscosity grade measures the oil's thickness and helps you select the right oil for your car. A lower viscosity grade means the oil is more fluid, while a higher grade indicates thicker and less flowing oil.
Ensure that you use the appropriate engine oil grade for your Toyota Corolla, whether you are topping up or doing a full oil change. We have created a table listing all Toyota Corolla models and engine types, along with the corresponding engine oil grade for each car. You can easily find the correct engine oil for your Toyota Corolla using the search and filter options.

The 60+ Year History of The Corolla
The Corolla model designation has now existed for twelve model generations, under which a two-door sedan from Toyota was first sold in 1966. Already within the first two years, the Corolla was characterized by the different available body variants.
In 1967, the four-door sedan and three-door station wagon followed the debut, and another year later there was also a coupe version. The SL models completed the series with powerful variants of the two-door models.
So the Corolla reinvented itself again and again over almost 60 years and tested other designs or switched from rear-wheel to front-wheel drive, always remaining true to the sedan and station wagon. The Toyota developed gradually in the direction of compact cars. The Corolla Liftback, a hatchback variant of the station wagon introduced in 1976, laid the first foundation for this.
In 1983, the Corolla Compact carried its identity as a compact car in its name as a short design with a hatchback. Only with the ninth generation in 2001 should this suffix finally be dropped and the simple designation "Corolla" should be applied to the compact model.
Three generations later and thus a total of twelve, the Corolla has existed in its current form since 2018. And even today, in addition to the compact car, the sedan and station wagon of the world's best-selling car are also available.
