Opel Insignia Alternatives
The Opel Insignia has a lot of interesting competition in the middle class. The Audi A4, VW Passat, BMW 3 Series, and Mercedes-Benz C-Class are among the top manufacturers. Other options are the Renault Megane, Skoda Superb, Kia Optima, and Mazda 6.
Which engines are available in the current Opel Insignia?
There are now three different engine options: the 2.0 Direct Injection Turbo, which has 200 PS and is automatic; the 1.5 Diesel, which has 122 horsepower and can be operated manually or automatically; and the 2.0 Diesel, which has 174 horsepower and can be operated manually or automatically.
Four in-line cylinders make up the 2.0 Direct Injection Turbo's petrol engine. Their respective displacements are 2.0 litres. They generate 200 horsepower and a maximum torque of 350 Nm as a result. The 9-speed automatic gearbox transmits the performance here without fail. As a sedan, it should be able to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.7 seconds, and as a station waggon, in 7.9 seconds. It should be able to get by on 6.4 to 6.3 litres of petrol per 100 kilometres with a combined driving style if you are not as interested in the rapid sprint and want to drive fuel-efficiently. The maximum velocity is 233 km/h.
With the diesel versions, we have a bit more options. The smaller engine has a 1.5-liter displacement and three cylinders. With a manual gearbox, it produces 122 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque; with an automated gearbox, it produces 285 Nm. There is therefore a choice between an 8-speed automatic and a 6-gear manual gearbox. It takes 11.6 seconds to reach 100 km/h at its fastest. With the more potent diesel engine, this is accomplished much faster—in 8.9 seconds. It has 2.0 litres, four cylinders, and 174 horsepower. 380 Nm is the highest torque. We can choose between an automatic and manual gearbox here as well.
