The Dacia Duster is an SUV (sports utility vehicle) from Dacia. On April 17, 2010, the Duster appeared on the car market and has been growing in popularity ever since. Dacia Duster I

Dacia Duster I amazed the whole car industry when it appeared in 2010 and soon became a real success in the compact SUV class. The technical bonds come from the group siblings Renault and Nissan.

This also explains the low price of the approximately 4.30 meter long Duster. Tried and tested engines from Renault such as the 1.6 16V petrol engine (also suitable for LPG) and the 1.5 dCi Turbo Diesel were initially installed. A TCe Turbo petrol engine with a displacement of 1.2 litres and 115 hp and the new 1.6 litre SCe naturally aspirated engine were later added to the range of engines. Optionally there was the 4×4 drive.

As a rule, the oil change interval for all Dacia Duster engines is 12 months or a maximum of 30,000 kilometers, whichever comes first. However, you should definitely check what is stated in your manual, as Dacia has often changed this information depending on the year of manufacture and country of registration (e.g. only a maximum of 20,000 kilometers driven). For all petrol engines, the Castrol Edge 5W-30 branded oil is a good and suitable choice. Castrol Edge 0W-40 is recommended for turbo diesel engines. Also check what is in your operating instructions to be on the safe side. Castrol offers excellent value for money, especially when shopping online, so buying a no-name motor oil is hardly a good idea.

Dacia Duster II (Duster 2)

The 2nd model generation of the Dacia Duster 2, available from 2018, also shines with a particularly low entry-level price. And that despite the fact that, unlike its predecessor, the car boasts a number of technical innovations. Under the bonnet you will find the most modern petrol and turbo diesel engines from Renault.

The entry-level engine is the 1.6 litre SCe naturally aspirated petrol engine. The 1.2 TCe turbo engine was also installed for a short time, which was replaced by the cutting-edge 1.3 TCe unit with up to 150 hp. This as well as all 1.5 dCi Turbo Diesel are equipped with the latest emission control systems.

With the Duster II, the oil must be changed after 2 years or 30,000 kilometers at the latest. However, the operating conditions can significantly shorten the runtime. This is indicated by the on-board computer. It is therefore absolutely necessary that you read all the information in your operating instructions so that you do not miss the oil change! Each oil must have the Renault RN0700 / RN0710 approval, the viscosity class 5W-30 is ideal in our latitudes. Check your manual anyway, engine and vintage-related deviations are possible. Castrol branded oils like Edge 5W-30 offer good value for money, especially when you buy it online from Amazon.

Every engine oil will have its viscosity grade labelled on the packaging. This will look something like 0W-20, 5W-30 or 5W-40. This grading is used to measure how thick / fluid the oil is and help ensure you buy the right oil for your car. The lower the viscosity grade of the oil, the more fluid and thinner it will be than those with a high grade (higher numbers) which will be much less running and thick.
