Why Is Engine Oil Important In The Citroen DS5?

Motor oil is a vital part of your Citroen DS5's engine. It provides the much needed lubrication to many of the internal parts of an engine. One of its key jobs is to prevent wear and tear on the moving parts which helps keep the engine running smoothly. Without oil, the engine would cease up almost immediately.

How Much Does It Cost To Change Citroen DS5 Oil?

As an example, in the cost check, we computed the oil change expenses for a DS5 1.6 THP made in 2015 in London. Prices varied from £70.00 for the cheapest provider to £120 for the most expensive (pricing status: October 2023).

These charges are typically the consequence of different hourly billing rates at various workshops. Furthermore, as a workshop, they will often stock differing brands of oil with some being cheaper and of lower quality. The others are most likely a little more expensive, but the quality is far superior. In our experience opting for a cheap oil isn't always a good idea.

How Often Do You Need To Change DS5 Oil?

The frequency with which Citroen requires an oil change for the sedans in the DS5 series varies depending on gearbox type, year of manufacturing, and engine version. A vehicle with the 1.6 litre HDi engine developed before June 2012 must have fresh lubrication applied every 24 months or 20,000 km. Citroen reduced the oil change intervals for these DS5 models to every 12 months or 20,000 miles beginning with the July 2012 construction period.

How Much Oil Does the DS5 Need?

The engine version of the vehicle determines how many litres of engine oil and which types of oil are required for the DS5 service. A Citroen 2.0 litre diesel, for example, takes around 5.0 litres of PSA B712290 or 2312 lubricant for an oil change. The related tables include data on oil volumes, viscosity classifications, and oil types with manufacturer approval for the various DS5 variants.
