The Corvette is the classic among US sports cars. The strikingly and rapidly styled two-seater has been around since 1953, the seventh generation of which was presented in Detroit in 2013 with the official name Stingray, based on the historic models from the 1960s and 1970s. Similar to the declared competitor and reference model, the Porsche 911, the appearance has only changed evolutionarily since the 1980s. But the Corvette got bigger and stronger with each generation. The current Stingray (C7) is 4.49 meters long, 1.87 meters wide and only 1.24 meters high. A 6.2-litre eight-cylinder petrol engine works under the long bonnet. There is also consistent lightweight construction with a space frame construction made of aluminum and carbon fiber structures.
The Corvette has grown up and become stronger. The seventh generation C7, officially called Stingray, wants to distance itself from the cliché of the high-horsepower US cheap sports car. The interior has been upgraded with leather-trimmed dashboards, leather seats that can be heated and ventilated, digital dashboards with classic graphics, a head-up display and a central touchscreen. Chevrolet has packed plenty of high-tech into the Corvette. The driver can choose from five driving modes: Weather, Eco, Tour, Sport or Track. The performance data recorder can be used to record and analyze journeys. If required, videos of the journey can be recorded on an SD memory card in the glove compartment. The Corvette is a lot of fun to drive, the 6.2-litre V8 with 466 hp has plenty of power and the sound of the quad exhaust system is beguiling. In terms of quality, it has increased significantly, even if it has not yet reached the high level of the 911. The fact that the Corvette is also significantly cheaper than the European competition makes it even more fun to drive.
Motor oil is a vital part of your Chevrolet Corvette's engine. It provides the much needed lubrication to many of the internal parts of an engine. One of its key jobs is to prevent wear and tear on the moving parts which helps keep the engine running smoothly. Without oil, the engine would cease up almost immediately.

Regularly checking and changing your Chevrolet Corvette engine oil is really important. Every time you start and run your car, very fine by-products from the combustion in the engine will be collected in the engine oil. This is one of the reasons why over time the oil goes black. If these contaminants build up too much and exceed the capacity of the oil it can have a negative impact on your car’s overall efficiency and actually effect its performance as it creates sludge and increased wear in the engine block.
Every engine oil will have its viscosity grade labelled on the packaging. This will look something like 0W-20, 5W-30 or 5W-40. This grading is used to measure how thick / fluid the oil is and help ensure you buy the right oil for your car. The lower the viscosity grade of the oil, the more fluid and thinner it will be than those with a high grade (higher numbers) which will be much less running and thick.
So which engine oil should you buy for your Chevrolet Corvette? Whether you are topping up your Chevrolet Corvette oil or doing a full change of your Chevrolet Corvette's oil it is really important that you use the correct grade of oil.
